Can Can Brasserie 3120 West Cary Street Richmond Virginia 23221
French flags hanging from the tall ceilings, outdoor dining, indoor seating, roomy bar seating and a varied menu provide everything one would expect in a french bistro. Parts of the menu are in french but do not let that deter you; the maitre de and servers speak English.
Daily plats du jour (daily specials) range from snapper with anchovy butter to chicken or lamb. Their grouper served with fingerling potatoes and an au jus plus greens with roasted corn bits mixed flavors from slightly sweet to savory. Their onion gratinee was perfectly draped and broiled with cheese brimming over the edges of the bowl. The onions were not bitter-tasting and reminded me of a bistro Mom and I frequented with similar ceilings, ambiance and tables. Their English Breakfast Harney and Sons tea was perfectly delightful served with cream and sugar in silver.
Noise level is what you would expect and is a friendly atmosphere for anyone to visit. If you have more than one person in your dining party, dropping somebody off so he does not have to walk or if you have a baby stroller would be advisable if you are unable to park in their immediate parking lot.
