Can Can Brasserie 3120 West Cary Street Richmond Virginia 23221

French flags hanging from the tall ceilings, outdoor dining, indoor seating, roomy bar seating and a varied menu provide everything one would expect in a french bistro. Parts of the menu are in french but do not let that deter you; the maitre de and servers speak English.

Daily plats du jour (daily specials) range from snapper with anchovy butter to chicken or lamb. Their grouper served with fingerling potatoes and an au jus plus greens with roasted corn bits mixed flavors from slightly sweet to savory. Their onion gratinee was perfectly draped and broiled with cheese brimming over the edges of the bowl. The onions were not bitter-tasting and reminded me of a bistro Mom and I frequented with similar ceilings, ambiance and tables. Their English Breakfast Harney and Sons tea was perfectly delightful served with cream and sugar in silver.

Noise level is what you would expect and is a friendly atmosphere for anyone to visit. If you have more than one person in your dining party, dropping somebody off so he does not have to walk or if you have a baby stroller would be advisable if you are unable to park in their immediate parking lot.

Normandie Farm Restaurant, 10710 Falls Road, Potomac, Maryland 20854

In addition to their restaurant at Normandie Farm, they also have dancing every Friday and Saturday night in Margery’s Lounge. Cary Prokos is their chef/proprietor and their fare is spectacular. I would rate this as one of my all-time favorite restaurants ever eaten at in my lifetime.

Everything at Normandie Farm is perfect every time and their food and service are included in my recommendation. If I were planning a wedding reception, baby shower, anniversary or a graduation party, I would call them right away to make sure I secured my particular preferred date on their calendar.

My favorite menu items include their french onion soup, grilled salmon, popovers and iced tea. Their popovers remind me of the ones my grandma used to make for us when we were kids. These melt in your mouth and are fabulous with butter and sugar or butter and the preserves provided at your table. http://www.popovers.com
