St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in the DelRay area of Alexandria is a place to bring your wifi-compatible computer or handheld device to utilize while eating a snack, sandwich, dessert, coffee and/or tea.  Their food is much higher quality than your typical sandwich shop.  Bring  along  your  friends and kids/grandkids.  There is a play area with plenty of toys plus benches for the adults to sit at while kid(s) play.  There are plenty of tables in differnt sizes plus countertops with seating for smaller parties facing outside.  In the warmer months, outdoor seating is another option.

Robeks (a smoothie cafe) 1835 Fountain Drive Reston VA 20196

Centrally located near Reston Town Center, Robeks is a place to get carry out or eat in for their smoothies and wraps. Their pesto chicken wrap was delicious. There are only a few tables but their food is worth it even if you have to stand to eat your meal. To call in your order, their number is 703-787-7755. Their chicken pesto wrap was a reasonable $6.39 plus $.16 tax and their employees were ready to answer my questions about their menu items.  Their menu includes a wide variety of smoothies and other flavored drinks.  I also spotted another one in Washington, DC, so this is another alternative to the frequently seen Washington, DC, steakhouses and sports bars, when on a business or vacation trip.

Their seafood soup and sliders for $9.99 and their iced tea for $2.25 made a delightful afternoon meal for a lighter appetite in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.  Be prepared ahead of time for parking challenges especially if you prefer not to parallel park your vehicle.  Parking lots are an option to consider but those with assistive devices or strollers might want to drop off an adult with the kids in front of the restaurant to make transport easier. 

Sometimes the Fish Market brings in musicians , so call ahead for dates and times to 703-836-5676.  Their menu is extensively packed with seafood but there are non-seafood options.  Casual atmosphere is a bit cluttered but food is fresh-flavored.  Servers are expected to cover a large domain but they still take great care of their guests who leave well-fed.

Poggio Restaurant at Casa Madrona Hotel and Spa 777 Bridgeway Sausalito CA 94965

Poggio is a trattoria with style, sophistication, superb cuisine and extremely attentive servers.  Their chairs are comfortable, their interior elegance is understated and everything in this trattoria aims to pamper and to please.  You will leave here better than when you entered.  Your soul will be refreshed and you will feel balanced and relaxed.  If you are staying in San Francisco, California, hop onto the ferry and eat dinner here.  It’s worth the somewhat windy trip over the water and the extra effort to get to Sausalito.

L’Auberge Provencale (B and B & Restaurant) 13630 Lord Fairfax Highway Boyce VA 22620

Whether you are staying overnight in their bed and breakfast that is well worth a visit or you want to dine here for dinner, at least choose to fit one option into your busy schedule.

Their breakfast included homemade, buttery-rich croissants and too much other delicious food to even begin to mention.  When you walk into the breakfast room, there is yogurt, homemade granola and croissants in addition to other pastries.  Did I mention that when arriving at the B and B there was drinking chocolate and homemade cookies of at least three varieties?

If you have a dietary accomodation such as a food allergy, let their staff know ahead of time.  They made soy milk waffles that were extremely easy to eat and to enjoy.  Their tea was Harney and Sons from Connecticut with early grey and rooibos chai to choose from.  Their service is attentive without being intrusive.  Every staff member here was helpful.
